Author: following a Royal Decree 1 April 2008, the 2008 Mine Ban Law in the Kingdom of Jordan. The new law represents a deepening of the government’s commitment to address the problem of mines in the United Kingdom.
Jordan has been actively working to eliminate landmines and other explosive remnants of war, since even before the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Antipersonnel Mines and on Their Destruction, mainly the Ottawa Convention known signs in 1998. The States Parties to the Ottawa Convention are obliged to make continuous progress to eliminate the threat of landmines, and Jordan has been pursuing this goal signed since taking office. has given to this end, the Government of Jordan, the National Committee for Demining and Rehabilitation was established in 2000 to guide policies and oversee mine action. The NCDR is chaired by HRH Prince Mired and directs the management and regulatory activities, and coordinate mine action and monitoring the implementation of strategies and best practices.
History and extent of contamination

Between 1993 and 2005, over 100,000 mines and unexploded ordnance from 10,000 units were removed and destroyed, resulting in the reduction of over 25 million square feet (9 square 6 miles). The 35 million square meters of remaining (13 square 5 miles) of Shas are believed to influence the lives of as many as 500,000 people, roughly 8 percent of the total population of Jordan. Jordan closed the destruction of their stockpiles by April 2003, one month before the expiry of all by the Convention.
